This term many of our classes have experienced educational visits to local bookshops. Class Teachers organised these visits so that children could choose new books with their World Book Day book tokens. Each visit was also a great opportunity for our pupils to develop their independence by choosing and paying for items in a shop themselves and applying the skills they’ve learnt in school in a real-life context. As you can see from the photos of North America Class’s visit to the Hasting Bookshop, the children also had a great time choosing a brand-new book they could take home to keep. We are proud that the children at Torfield have a real love of reading and we are very grateful to have the support of local businesses like the Hastings Bookshop who welcomed and supported our visits.
